Toyota New Corolla VR experience

VR Application
Goal
Toyota wanted to promote the new Corolla from a fresh perspective. The goal was to provide users with a highly immersive experience—as if they were visiting a dealership—so they could fall in love with the car and feel compelled to buy it.
Problem
How can we create an interactive and engaging experience that effectively presents a new car model and is persuasive enough to generate genuine buyer interest?

Solution
We developed an augmented reality (AR) mobile application that allowed users to virtually explore the New Corolla from anywhere—even inside their own garage. Users could interact with the car in detail, both inside and out, using motion and gestures. The app also included a form where users could express interest in purchasing the car. This experience helped bridge the gap between marketing and the sales team.
Results:
•1,500+ downloads from the app store
•600+ leads expressing interest in the vehicle (Brazil)
My Contributions
The design was a collaboration between a UI Designer and the marketing team. I actively contributed to the entire design process, from ideation to delivery to the client.
• Conducted a benchmark analysis of AR apps in the automotive and tech industries
• Identified key interaction patterns, including the value of a horizontal navigation experience, inspired by driving games
• Collaborated on concept exploration, prototyping, and final delivery
We started with a paper prototype, then evolved it into an illustrated wireframe, and finally built a high-fidelity, interactive prototype in Axure. Before final delivery, we conducted qualitative usability tests to validate the experience and identify improvements. Feedback from these sessions helped us refine the interface and motion interactions.
